For those of you who have just bought a hookah, I am sure that you are wanting to know how to prepare the flavored tobacco.
STEP 1 Getting the parts
The very first thing that you are going to do, is pull out every part you need and spread them all out.
STEP 2 Filling it up
Now you will take the base of the hookah and fill it with water, about 3/4 of the way full. You can experiment with the different types things you put at the base of your hookah, like tea, soda, or koolaid.
STEP 3 Cooling it off
Add about 10-15 ice cubes in the base of the hookah full of water. This will provide a nice cool and smooth smoke.
STEP 4 Adding Shaft
After you are done with the base of the hookah, you are going to grab the long part that actually goes down inside of the base. Put water on the rubber part of that piece so that it goes in easier. You do not want to force anything on your hookah. Plug the hose in it and go on to the next step.
STEP 5 Setting up the bowl
Now that you have set up the hookah for the most part, you are going to want to get some aluminum foil and the bowl that the tobacco goes in. Tear off two small sheets of foil. Take one of the sheets of foil and line the bottom part of the bowl. After you have lined the outside of the bowl nice and tight with foil, get a tooth pick and poke one larger hole in the middle, then smaller ones around it.
STEP 6 Filling with flavored tobacco
Now you need to make a choice of what flavor tobacco you and your friends want to smoke. This all depends on what you like. I have found that a lot of people prefer fruit flavored tobacco. Personally I am a big fan of the strawberry and apple flavor. When filling the bowl with tobacco, you want to make sure that you do not fill the bowl too much. If you fill the bowl too much, the coal may burn it faster creating a harsh unpleasant smoke. I would normally just put about three "pinches" of tobacco in there.
STEP 7 Covering the top of the bowl
You are now ready to use the second sheet of foil. You are going to want to stretch the foil over the top of the bowl and pull it as tight as possible. Once you have completely sealed and pulled the foil tight - get a tooth pick. You will do the same thing to the top as you have done to the bottom. Poke holes!! One slightly larger hole in the middle, and just a few smaller holes around it. You will want to poke the holes in the same shape as the coal.
STEP 8 Lighting the coal
Lets light it up!! Get your tongs that came with your hookah and grab a coal. You can light the coal with a lighter, or put it over your stove. Make sure you get a good light. Let it roll over the flame for a good time. Most people have those small hand held pocket fans, like what you would see people use in the summer, to blow on the coal and get it glowing. Others just blow on it.
STEP 9 Placing the coal
Place the coal directly in the middle of the foil. Pick up the hose of the hookah and "prime" it. Meaning take about three good puffs to get the smoke going. After you take about three puffs, take one deep long inhale, hold it in for a few seconds then release. Then pass it on to the next person to smoke.
STEP 10 ENJOY!
